The EN 1276 Standard describes a Quantitative suspension test for the assessment of the bactericidal activity of chemical antiseptics and disinfectants. This test method evaluates how effectively the product causes a reduction in the number of viable bacterial cells of the relevant test micro-organisms. This test can be applied to both the formulated product or the bactericidal active ingredient. The EN 1276 (also BS EN 1369) applies to products that are used in food, industrial, domestic and institutional areas excluding areas and situations where disinfection is medically indicated and excluding products used on living tissues except those for hand hygiene in the above considered areas.
The EN 1650 test method is a European Standard, used to determine the anti-fungal efficacy of chemical disinfectants and antiseptics used in food, industry, and institutions. EN 1650 is similar to ASTM E2315, a suspension time kill procedure. Briefly, fungi cultures are grown and then inoculated into the liquid test substance. The solution is mixed, then allowed to rest for one or more contact times.
